a short story
AUTHOR’S NOTE; THIS IS MY ENGLISH HOMEWORK! WE WERE ASKED TO WRITE A SCARY STORY. IT KIND OF TURNED INTO A SOAP OPERA WITH ALL THE LOVE BIRDS AND SHIT, BUT OH WELL. WHO CARES! TELL ME IF YOU LIKE IT.
PS. THE ACTUAL STORY ENDED WITH KAYLA WAKING UP FROM A NIGHTMARE, BECASE IT FELT LIKE I COULD GO ON FOREVER AND THE TEACHER ONLY ASKED FOR LIKE 4 PAGES.
…..
It’s halloween and a group of teenagers are out to trick and treat. It’s past midnight and they are almost about to return to their homes. Just as they are saying goodnight to eachother, they notice they hadn’t been to this dark looking, gigantic mansion that is covered with vile ivy that looks as though it hadn’t been pruned in 50 years. This mansion is placed outside of the town, where literally nobody even remembered a such area exists. Parents didn’t allow their children to get as far as they have this night on normal occasions. They still weren’t allowed even though it’s halloween, but everybody had lost themselves in this halloween mood they forgot they didn’t have permission. Little did they know, not listening to their parents carefully enough would have such dreadful results.
“I’ll see you in school then” Sarah said. Sarah was jaw-droppingly beautiful. With the 6 feet legs, long, blond hair and baby blue eyes, she looked like she popped out of a runway. Near Sarah stood Kayla and Rebecca, her two best friends. Three of them did everything together, you wouldn’t see one without the other two. They were together everywhere, every time. You could never separate them. They were that close. Surprisingly though, they couldn’t be any more different from each other, both inside and outside. Kayla was a classic brunnette, with thick, brown hair, brown eyes and dark skin. She was one of those people who let everything inside. She was very shy and didn’t talk much. On the other hand, Rebecca was the loudest person you’d ever meet. She never cared what other people thought of herself, she spoke whatever came into her mind carelessly.
Rebecca had short, curly orange hair and a face covered with dimples.
“Alright, by-” Chad stopped. He looked shocked, eyes locked on something.
“What are you looking at?” Jason, Chad’s buddy, asked.
Chad was Kayla’s boyfriend. They’d been together for what seemed like forever.
“How come we never noticed that?!” He pointed his finger to the mansion. “It’s so huge!”
“Wow.” Kayla replied.
“Guys, we should totally check it out!!!” Rebecca yelled.
“I don’t know…somebody could be living in it.” Kayla told Rebecca, afraid if going in will disturb people. Typical Kayla.
“C’mon Kayla! Don’t be a baby. WHO would live in THAT anyway? It looks so neglected.”
“She’s right.” Sarah added.
“Well… if you say so…” Kayla gave in quickly. What Rebecca said made sense. She turned her head to Chad’s direction to see what he was thinking. He looked enthisuastic, excited to find whatever that was in the mansion. Kayla turned to Jason with a fading hope. Only to find him staring at Sarah as always. He seemed like he would go to the end of the world if Sarah was going.
Jason had a so-called “secret” crush on Sarah. He didn’t tell anyone, but it was so obvious from the way he looked at Sarah, he didn’t need to.
“When is he ever going to find the guts to ask her out?” Kayla though to herself. She sighed loudly.
“So…are we going in or not?!” Rebecca said.
Kayla nodded. She was feeling uneasy, she just somehow knew something was going to go wrong. They all started walking towards the mansion. Rebecca on the lead, Sarah following her, and Jason following Sarah. Chad and Kayla following from behind, slower then the rest. Chad saw how uneasy Kayla eas and he was trying to get her to relax.
Rebecca, couldn’t handle the excitement anymore and started running to the gates of the mansion, leaving Jason and Sarah behind.
“So…” Jason struggled to find something to talk about. “Dammit”, he thought to himself, “why do i always get nervous like this?”
Sarah smiled. She knew Jason loved her, his nervousness was adorable! She liked him too, but was patient enough to let him make the first move. “It’s going to happen soon, i know” she thought.
“Guys, it’s open!” Rebecca shouted from near the gates. “Come here now!”
“Kayla, see the gates are open. I told you nobody lived here.” Rebecca said, with a smug expression.
“Okay, you were right, I was wrong. HAPPY?” Kayla replied, annoyingly.
“Very” Rebecca said, grinning.
They got through the gates and inside the front yard. The front yard was surrounded with enormous trees and the grass was above knee length. Thankfully, there was a path from the gates to the front door so they were able to stay out of the grass. God knows what type of insects could be living there. They followed the path and reached the mansion. All that was left to see was the door and a couple broken windows, every other inch was covered with vile ivy.
“Disgusting.” Sarah said as she touched the dusty door knob and pushed the door wide open. She rubbed her hand on her jeans as others got in.
“One word…WOW!!!” Chad said. “This looks like the 17th century version of the freaking white house.” he added as he started walking towards the stairs.
“Wait! Don’t leave us. We should stay together. …..just in case.” Kayla said, her legs were shaking.
“Kayla, calm the fuck down.” Rebecca said. “Please?” she added after facing Kayla’s frowning face.
The indoors was… glorious. Well, it had been glorious… once. Now everything had rotten and was covered in dust. It was still incredibly big though. They were in what once was the living room. On the left stood the dining table, long and heavy looking. The chair was gone. On the wall was the picture-less, differently shaped group of frames. Everything looked extremely old.
“UGH!!! Spider web! YUCK.” Rebecca yelled. She was wandering around in the living room. Kayla jumped with the fear of hearing a sudden sound. “Will you calm down, PLEASE? Your starting to scare me too.” Rebecca added.
“No, i will n- WHAT THE HECK?”
…..
OKAY, YOUR PROBABLY SAYING “WHERE THE FUCK IS THE REST?” WELL, ORIGINALLY, IT ENDED WITH KAYLA WAKING UP FROM HER NIGHTMARE. BUT I ENDED IT LIKE THAT ONLY SO THAT I WAS FINISHED WITH IT. SINCE I WON’T BOTHER TO CONTINUE THIS, HOW ABOUT YOU CONTINUING IT FROM WHERE I LEFT IT? YOU CAN ADD A SHORT PARAGRAPH TO IT AND THEN SOMEBODY ELSE WILL CONTINUE. IT’LL BE LIKE A GAME.
